NIKE  X  Wings for LIfe
World Run Marathon

Design Inspiration:

Under the influence of my dad, who was a former professional runner, I learned about running and started my journey of running. I picked up the habit of running and slowly enjoyed running. Learned from my father who once participated in the Wings for Life World Run, I wanted to create a collaborative campaign inviting NIKE, the most well-known sports brand, with the Wings for Life, a non-profit charity organization. I hope to use the global marathon run to raise awareness for people with disabilities, cohering with the main advocating of Wings for Life: celebrating and raising awareness for people with spinal cord injuries.

Design Concept:

NIKE is the main sponsor for publicly advertising the charity marathon and Wings for Life is the partnered sponsor. Wings for Life is a non-profit charity that fundraises for people who have spinal cord injuries or are paralyzed.
 

The marathon held by the NIKE and Wings for Life invites runners from all over the world to start the marathon at the exact same time of the day. Each runner will end their race once being caught by the “catcher car”. The motto of the marathon is “Running for those who can’t.”

Main Theme:

Grey, pink, and yellow are the main color of the visual design. The landmark buildings in the background also follow the grey tone. Using common visual design elements of NIKE, I choose to design my poster using no more than 3 colors to elicit the simplicity of NIKE’s brand style. I use Trade Gothic/Futura as the font of my visual design.

The visual design of the campaign can add elements that are more focused on the people who have spinal injuries since the main purpose of the marathon is to bring public awareness to these disabled people. Although NIKE is the main sponsor of the campaign, the branding portrayed on the visual design should be lessened in order to highlight the organization, Wings for Life. 
 

I believe that using marathon campaigns that collaborate with charity organizations can advocate the disabilities to the broader public. Through meaningful events like this, participants are also able to make a donation by joining the race and the marathon campaign.
